Sailing World, owner and organizer of the Sperry Top-Sider National Offshore One-Design (NOOD) Regatta, announced today the newest addition to its 2008 national schedule of nine regattas is a stop in Seattle. The Seattle NOOD will be co-hosted by the Seattle Yacht Club and the Corinthian Yacht Club and is set to take place on Puget Sound, May 16-18, 2008.

Sailing World and Sperry Top-Sider have announced that the Children’s Memorial Hospital, based in Chicago, Ill., will be the recipient of the Sailing for Miracles program during the Chicago stop of the Sperry Top-Sider National Offshore One Design (N.O.O.D.) Regatta, scheduled for June 15-17 at host Chicago Yacht Club.

Next week, the Sperry Top-Sider National Offshore One Design (N.O.O.D.) Regatta sets sail to Bayview Yacht Club (BYC) in Detroit, Mich. From June 1-3, competition in 14 one-design and two handicapped classes will take place on the Lake St. Clair. Now in its 15th year as the region’s largest sailing regatta, there are 192 boats entered, to date, with the majority from the Great Lakes area representing Michigan, Ohio and Ontario, Canada.

Sometimes it’s worth the wait and today’s brilliant weather conditions in Annapolis proved just that. With 10-15 steady knots of wind and bright sunshine, competitors at the Sperry Top-Sider NOOD Regatta were treated to a final day of perfect conditions after enduring two days of postponed racing.

National Safe Boating Week, May 19-25, is fast approaching, and as the official footwear of the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC), Sperry Top-Sider will donate five percent of all online purchases made during safe boating week to support the program. Through a series of campaigns and educational awareness, NSBC is the foremost coalition for the advancement and promotion of safer boating.

The luck of the Irish smiled down today upon the 160 boats competing in the Sperry Top-Sider National Offshore One Design (N.O.O.D.) Regatta in San Diego, Calif. With 10-12 knots of wind and a mostly clear sky above, 14 one-design classes competed – six began their series yesterday, while the additional eight took the day off. Three races were run on each of three race courses, two on the ocean and one on the Bay.

Later this week, the Sperry Top-Sider National Offshore One Design (N.O.O.D.) Regatta sets sail to San Diego Yacht Club (SDYC) in Southern California. From March 16-18, competition in 14 one-design classes will take place in three venues: San Diego Bay, Coronado Roads and the Pacific Ocean under the supervision of Principal Race Officer Sue Reilly and the SDYC race committee. While many of the 146 boats registered to date are California based, a significant number represent 11 U.S. states and Bermuda. The overall winner in San Diego will receive a Sunsail charter during the 2007 Sperry Top-Sider NOOD Regatta Championship, in the British Virgin Islands, where they will compete against the overall winners from each stop on the nine-regatta Sperry Top-Sider NOOD circuit.

Sperry Top-Sider has been named as the official footwear of the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC), beginning in 2007. Sperry Top-Sider joins West Marine, Zodiac, and other boating manufacturers to help promote recreational boating safety and education through the organization. Established in 1958 and made up of more than 350 member organizations, the NSBC is one of the driving forces behind Safe Boating Week.
