Hi, I'm S. Perry Siping, the world's first boat shoe outsole. I was born in 1935 in Paul Sperry's workshop. The inspiration for Mr. Sperry's grippy, wave-siped outsole (me) came from observing his dog, Prince's ability to maintain traction on the ice. It was the ridges on Prince's paw that inspired the distinct wave-like grooves on my pliable, rubber body. Friends began to call me "Sticky" because they claimed I "stuck like a barnacle" to wet and slippery boat decks.

For over 75 years I've circumnavigated the globe in search of adventure, I even appeared in some of our first Yachting magazine ads!
